    What does private medical insurance cover?

    Does private medical insurance cover emergencies?

    Most of the time, emergency treatment is provided by the NHS. Private medical insurance is designed to be for planned treatment.

    Can I choose when and where I am treated?

    Many policies give you flexibility of picking and choosing from an approved list of hospitals and consultants. You can then arrange a date that works best for you.

    Do you charge for your services?

    No, there is no charge for our service.

    What medical insurers do you compare?

    At the moment the insurers that we work with are Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality, WPA, The Exeter and Freedom Health.

    Do I need to arrange a meeting?

    Everything to do with getting a quotation or setting up a policy can be done over the phone or via email. We do have an office where a face to face meeting can be arranged if necessary.

    Applying, Switching & Underwriting

    Is there a lot of paperwork involved in signing up or switching?

    In most cases, very little paperwork is required. Insurers have made the process simple and straightforward, with most applications completed online. Occasionally, a form may be needed depending on the policy or insurer.

    Does private medical insurance cover pre-existing conditions?

    Pre-existing conditions are not generally covered, but this will depend on the nature of the condition. This is something worth discussing with our advisers as options will vary between the different insurers.

    Can I use my private medical insurance straight away?

    Some benefits will be available from the start date of the policy, other benefits there may be a waiting period for

    Is there an age limit when applying for cover?

    Some insurers have maximum joining ages, but we work with providers who can offer cover at any age. Once you’re accepted onto a policy, you can usually remain covered regardless of how old you are.

    What happens if I want to add or remove someone from my policy?

    It is very straightforward process and we can handle the administration of any changes you wish to make.

    How do I make a claim on my policy?

    To make a claim, you would normally contact your insurer directly. They will guide you through the process and let you know if any additional information is needed, such as a GP referral letter.

    Can I cancel my policy if I no longer need it?

    Yes, most policies can be cancelled at any point, although terms and notice periods apply.

    What happens when my policy renews?

    About a month before your policy is due for renewal, you will receive updated terms and pricing. We will be in touch with you at this time to review the policy and make changes if needed.

    What is a “No Claims Discount” ?

    A No Claims Discount is a reduction in your premium that you may receive for not making a claim on your health insurance policy. The longer you go without claiming, the bigger the discount can become.
